Bus Campaign Feedback
Here are a few of the comments we have seen on blogs and in chat rooms. We will try to post the new comments (and there have been many) in the next days. Let us know if you would like to support the bus campaign.
I have never thought that some of them may not want to hurt us - I think that I want to thank you....
These Arabic signs are doing just what they should: provoking us to talk about our fears and our hopes. Even negative comments can be a starting point for discussion and growth. Love your neighbor pre-emptively.
It's their [Muslims] problem - they ought to be doing SOMETHING to solve it.
I dont think a muslim has ever knocked on my door to tell me about their religion . While in Iraq I remember we were never attacked by Muslims, Not once!! we were attacked by terrorists. I thought that camapaign frankly, was nothing short of truly inspiried. Then again, given that you are an organization that deals with the spirit, perhaps inspiration is to be expected.
In any event it was thoughtful, though provoking, simple, elegant, powerful, positive...and on and on. Great idea. Great message.

When I moved to the swamps of Delaware I had to set up with a new doctor and all that. Well the physician's practice I chose, not having HMO's here in the swamps, was one that, to my surprise I somehow got a Muslim doctor. ...I changed the practice after one visit.
They are just trying to get us use to Arabic signs. Later when the put up the real Jihad messages we will ignore them.

I will not believe anything they say until I see some kind of concrete
action on their part that proves that they are willing to live in peace and harmony with people of all beliefs. We are currently under siege from Islamic extremists who want to kill us all.
I think that your program showing Arabic signs in public to make people think is amazing. I don't have any money to donate but I wanted to show my support. KEEP GOING I pray that your program becomes so wide spread that one day I'll hop on a bus here and see an arabic sign.
You best be stocking up on emergency supplies. As soon as the muslims take over, you will have nothing but crow to eat.
You trust them if you are so inclined, but trying to convince the general population of Virginia that Muslims are just nice, misunderstood people is just plain treacherous! They either need to change their religion or their location, or accept that they will not be trusted here. Christians are not wanted in their native lands and Muslims are not wanted in my native land.
Why does our own muslim community remain so silent? I love all religions if it brings a man to humble himself before God and to cherish life and do good with hiw own life, but I am puzzled by the quietness of our own islamic brothers.
Outreach to Muslims, and trying to promote greater understanding between our cultures is a primary function of my job. To read stories of those working on the crucial other side of the equation in the US is heartwarming.

As U.S. Soldiers, we often handed out toys to Iraqi children, and gifts of clothing and household goods to adults. On many such gifts I would pen the only Arabic word I knew how to write by heart..."FRIENDS".

It is gratifying to have native Virginians such as Rev. Smith and yourself driving this effort. Left to itself, we would have "carpet-baggers" like Rep. Virgil Goode, rather than Imad Damaj, speaking to and for Virginians.

Most of the comments listed here are telling us exactly why this campaign is so sorely needed. I would venture to guess that most of the hateful venom being spewed here is being thrown by people who call themselves Christians, but who obviously do not themselves know Christ. Shame on them. And good luck with this campaign. You're doing God's work.
Islam is NOT a religion. It is a TERRORIST organization that masquerades as a religion. It is a cancer that should be wiped off the face of the earth. This was a bad idea and GRTC should be ashamed for allowing this mess on its busses.
I heard the interview yesterday with Reverend Smith on NPR and wanted to both congratulate and thank you for your efforts.
I say that in that you have failed to provide a "level" playing field for everyone. There is no mention of the African culture or the "American" culture in your "about us" description of who you are. You do not mention the Filipino, Mexican, or any of the Central or South American cultures. No mention of the Native American, or any of the European cultures. What about the cultures of the northern (Antarctic) and southern most parts of the world??? and many others not named here??? Are not ALL these people either included or represented in this country???
Good job in the campaign! For all the people who chose to write negative and rude comments, please pass along to them this message....I am American by blood I am muslim by choice and I challenge any one of them to pick me out of a crowd much less ostracize me. Salaam aleikum
I used to know how to write "jackass" in Farsi...It would be nice to address these subhuman scum in their own language. Maybe there are some subtleties in "Get out of my country" that get lost in translation.
I think the bus campaign is a really clever idea, and I was really thrilled to hear about it ..... and then I got a bit depressed when I read the page of negative comments.
The Virginia Interfaith Center is engaging in apologist misdirection in an attempt to generate guilt in the community. Those FEELING guilty will submit and comply to assuage their guilt, Islamofacist gain power.
Donate money i dont think so.What and where will it go? To Iraq to sponser there holly war

There is no hope of peace on earth as long as islm exists....period.
This effort really touches my heart, I am an Amercian Muslim, and my husband is of Arab descent. Even though there is a fairly large Muslim community in the Dallas/Ft. Worth metroplex, I am rather surprised to see the number of people afraid of us because we are Muslim or speak Arabic.
We don't need lumps in the melting pot.
